A thick evening mist rolls out of Red Square as the gates open to this shared Christmas party extravaganza in Nottingham, and a sparkling canopy of stars is revealed in all its splendour.
Flags, swags and pennants hang in celebration and the colourful onion-domed buildings of St. Basil's form a stunning backdrop to the magnificent dining hall.
Throughout the Nottingham Christmas party evening, jugglers and musicians entertain, and after dinner the atmosphere heats up when Cossack dancers, in spectacular costume, burst from St. Basil's and perform a breathtaking show of sword dancing - sparks fly, swords clash, feet stamp and then the finalé - an amazing display of the traditionally energetic and acrobatic Cossack dance.
