venue description

Hatfield House in Hertfordshire, just 21 miles north of London, is a fine Jacobean House and Garden in a spectacular countryside setting.

Built by Robert Cecil, Ist Earl of Salisbury and Chief Minister to King James I from 1607 to 1611. There is a marvellous collection of pictures, furnishings and historic armour on display.

The Old Palace in Hatfield Park, built in c 1485 and where Queen Elizabeth I held her first Council of State in 1558, is the ideal venue for Christmas receptions, luncheons, dinners, balls and parties.

The Old Palace can accommodate up to 300 for a Cocktail Party, 280 for a seated luncheon or dinner, or 200 for a ball or dinner with dancing. The rooms are flexible and can be arranged for a smaller number to feel comfortable.

The Riding School is suitable for dinners and parties and can easily accommodate 100 for a seated lunch or dinner.  It opened in July 2006 following a major refurbishment.

For smaller more intimate occasions the Coach House Restaurant will seat up to 60 for a private lunch or dinner.
